From the Bookshelf: Created for Work, Practical Insights for Young Men

Created for Work: Practical Insights for Young Men is an amazing book written by Bob Schultz. It came to us highly recommended for my boys, but when I began perusing the pages I quickly realized that this book would be beneficial not only to my boys, but to my daughter and I as well. Instead of assigning this book to my boys, I read it aloud as part of our morning Bible/devotional time. The chapters are short and followed by discussion questions that pave the way for deeper discussion. I knew it was really making an impact, especially on the boys when they would discuss what we were learning with their dad.

The author teaches about the importance of a strong work ethic, responsibility, honesty and integrity effortlessly while sharing stories from his own life to illustrate the key points. Combined with scripture, these stories get their point across loud and clear in a friendly, humble, like father to son manner. Once we began reading this book I couldn’t believe that it had been on my shelf at home unopened for nearly two years! What a gem and we almost missed it!

I look forward to reading other books by this other, including Boyhood and Beyond: Practical Wisdom for Becoming a Manand Practical Happiness: A Young Man's Guide to a Contented Life.
