Field Trip Friday: Huntsville Botanical Garden

I hope that you'll consider joining me each Friday as I share the field trips we've enjoyed as a family or as an organized group. I'd love to see where you've been and what you're learning!

This morning we awoke to the sound of rain pitter pattering on the roof of the camper. As wonderful as I once imagined that sound would be, I didn’t realize how hard it would be to sleep through the not so gentle pounding of the raindrops hitting against our metal roof. The rain wasn’t all bad; it gave my husband, who was scheduled an outside job, a perfect excuse to take a day off work and spend it with us.

We were thrilled to see the sun emerge from the clouds right around the time the kids were finishing their individual assignments. We decided to head to the Huntsville Botanical Garden to see their newest exhibit for the Spring and Summer, Tremendous Treehouses.

I mistakenly thought the treehouses would be the highlight of the day and it's not like we didn't enjoy them, but we stumbled into the Children's Garden and the fun began! My 'kids' loved playing here! All four of them. Check out some of the pictures:

There was a Dinosaur Garden with Dinosaur bones to walk through and fog rocks!

A great place to take a seat.

Just messing around.

Of course we did see some treehouses and some beautiful spring flowers, but I'd have to say that my kids really enjoyed the Children's Garden. Go figure. It did upset me that one of the mom's made it a point to steer her son away from my kids. Oh well. Before I had teenagers, I thought they were all evil too!

I don't know how educational this field trip was, but then the goal today was just to enjoy a day as a family. Fun is good. I'll post pictures on the fan page if you're interested in seeing more of the main attraction, the treehouses.

There you have it! Now you can link up and share your own and please don't forget to tell others that you are a part of Field Trip Friday so they can get in on the fun!

For those of you who have participated, don't forget to snag this awesome button that Adori Graphics created just for you. Isn't it cute? Just don't forget to link it back here so Field Trip Friday can continue to grow! Until next week...Happy Field Trippin'!

  1. I linked to a post about a hike from last fall. Hope it's okay that it's a little bit older post! You'll never believe that I was going to guess a camaro!

  2. Older posts are fine! I've posted a few myself when we haven't gotten out when I expected to or if it was a field trip we particularly enjoyed.

OK, now I'm curious, just what were you going to guess as a Camaro?:) It really is hard to tell with that cover on. I'd have had no idea.

  3. What a great botanical garden! Looks like your kids had so much fun, and how great to be able to spend the day outdoors together.

  4. There was just something about the outline that made me think Camaro. Just kinda weird that way, I guess :)
